Almost every large German company provides its employees with mobile devices with a web connection for business use. This development makes work more flexible for employees, while IT administrators are faced with new challenges due to the use of mobile devices, such as the Managing different operating systems and device models and dealing with Security risks such as hacking, theft or loss of the mobile devices. MDM (Mobile Device Management) tools such as Intune from Microsoft offer a solution. They manage the device inventory and protect the applications, data and content of the end devices.
The new acmp Intune Connector is an extension for MS Intune and offers important additional EMM and UEM features as well as convenient management of the entire IT landscape via the acmp Console - whether for company-owned or employee-owned devices such as tablets, laptops or PCs. The most important features of the acmp Intune Connector include:
- simple import of data from mobile devices
- central device management
- simplified queries using acmp Reporting
- overview of the entire client landscape.
How the acmp Intune Connector works in practice
The new acmp tool imports Android and iOS devices directly into the acmp Console on request. Once the devices have been set up, they are imported into the acmp Core inventory, the most important device data is displayed and, if desired, an asset is created whose data is regularly and automatically updated by the tool.
Another extremely important function concerns the Resetting or locking the devices remotely. As mobile devices are often lost or stolen, damage limitation is particularly important here to prevent any unauthorized access to data. The acmp Intune Connector enables the affected device to be wiped or locked directly in the acmp Console, which then forwards the "Wipe" command to Microsoft Intune. The command deletes the user data and resets the device to the factory settings. The device also disappears from the administration. Data misuse is therefore very unlikely.
Further features of the acmp Intune Connector:
- Keep device settings and policies up to date: The Sync Device action can be used directly from the acmp Console so that the mobile device always loads and uses the current settings from the Intune instance.
- Remote Lock: The devices are locked and can be used again by re-entering the password or pin. Otherwise, the screen switches off until the next activation.
- Assign authorizations: At the user level, authorizations are assigned in acmp for who can control which action from the acmp Intune Connector.
- Personal notifications: Personal push notifications can be sent directly from acmp to users' mobile devices. This allows users to quickly receive all information about necessary restarts or other important events.
- Retire Intune devices: Withdrawing (Retire) all settings and configuration profiles causes the device to disappear from management at the next check-in. The user data is retained.
acmp 6.5, which has undergone further interesting improvements and enhancements in addition to the new module, is available now.
