Whitepaper on data protection settings

Soest, January 14, 2016: With a new, free white paper on all important data protection settings for Windows 10, the Soest-based client management expert aagon is supporting IT administrators with the introduction of the new operating system. Windows 10 offers a wide range of parameters for regulating data protection and handling user information. aagon has divided the settings that are particularly important from a corporate IT perspective into five clear topic blocks and provided them with security instructions and practical recommendations for action.

Officially released by Microsoft in summer 2015, Windows 10 brings with it numerous innovations and updates that support the increasingly important balancing act between private and business use as well as use on different device types such as smartphones, tablets and PCs. For example, the operating system contains a whole range of functions that offer the user a high level of convenience, but in return require a high exchange of user and usage-specific information. These include the voice-supported assistant "Cortana", user profiling and location-based services.

What seems sensible for private use and for mobile devices such as smartphones is often problematic or critical in terms of security from a professional corporate IT perspective, at least for workstations and laptops.

With the right settings, however, Windows 10 can easily be set up by the IT administrator in such a way that it represents an optimal compromise between convenience and innovative functions as well as data protection and protection of the company against spying. The white paper written by aagon provides a good overview of all relevant setting options. The instructions and tips on the more than 100 different parameters are divided into the following five subject areas:

1. general data protection and accounts

2. windows updates

3. cloud services such as Cortana

4. network settings

5. other

With the right settings, Windows 10 becomes significantly more secure and can be used in a corporate context without any problems. Interested parties can download the white paper free of charge after registering here.

We recommend that companies make the switch to Windows 10 soon, as Microsoft currently only provides the most important security updates for Windows 7 and will gradually discontinue support by 2020, says Alexander Stühl, Director Sales and Marketing at aagon GmbH. With this white paper, we want to offer IT administrators added value and share our knowledge with medium-sized companies, Stühl continues.

Operating system introduction made easy

The introduction of a new operating system is always a good time to consider the use of special tools for client management, software rollout and patch management. Powerful solutions such as the acmp software suite developed by aagon not only drastically reduce the effort involved, but also significantly reduce the risk of data loss or downtime. With acmp, the entire rollout process runs automatically and centrally under the full control of the IT administrator. Users do not have to take any action. This ensures that the migration to Windows 10 runs smoothly and that there are no nasty surprises.
